December 20, 2008

Congratulations! You’ve just bought that smashing new digital camera for your vacation. Now it’s time to check out the accessories to ensure that you capture the memories of the vacation properly.

If you go and shop around camera shops you will notice that there are so many accessories to choose from and each of them have their own variations. If you are on a budget, you must be wise and choose only the most important ones.

For example, if you are someone who takes pictures for fun and upload them to your online album to share with your friends, you certainly don’t need that expensive photo printer or that roll of glossy photo paper because in all likelihood, you won’t be printing out your pictures.

Good shops will be able to give you good digital cameras tips that will ensure you don’t overspend on unnecessary items.

So without further ado, let’s take a look at some of the most important accessories that you should take with you when you on your vacation.

• Camera bag. It goes without saying because you will need something that will let you carry your camera and equipment with you safely. This is the most inexpensive piece of accessory that you should invest in. If you travel a lot, it is advisable to invest in a durable camera bag to ensure that your camera and equipment don’t get damaged in transition.

• Battery charger. You don’t want your camera to die on you when you are out on a trip to an exotic location, do you? Although you can carry batteries with you, you must keep in mind that batteries get drained a lot faster if you take a lot of pictures. Having a recharger around will ensure that you have juice to spare without having to worry about finding a shop to buy more batteries.

• Extra memory cards. Very important to ensure that you have enough space to store all those precious vacation photos. The last thing you want is to find the perfect sunset and discover that you camera can’t store the picture any more. You should also take note of your photo resolutions because this will also affect your memory storage.

• Lens cleaning kit. You should never clean your lens with your shirt, water, breath or fingers. There are special tools that are designed for this purpose. A basic lens cleaning kit includes a soft cloth, small blower brush, lens cleaning solution and lens cleaning tissues.

• Camera tripod. This is not exactly a necessary investment but will go a long way towards snapping a good picture, depending on your digital photography techniques. While it may seem like an awfully bulky piece of accessory, most tripods are retractable and are able to fit into almost any camera bag.
