Pleasing The Judges For Baby Photo Contests

May 31, 2009

Think that your baby has a smile that can melt hearts and sell products? If you’re interested in getting your child in front of the camera as a model, then a baby photo contest could be the vessel you need.

Some Hollywood stars, like Brooke Shields, began their careers by winning such competitions. As a bonus, prizes or even pay checks can be used to give your little one a start on their college fund.

Taking great shots for a baby photo contest requires persistence. Your child may not be ready when you are, so make sure he’s comfortable. If you choose to take the pictures away from home, then have everything your baby will need, such as diapers, food and a blanket.

Being creative can coax that magic moment into happening. For instance, take your baby for a ride on the swings. Just imagine the expression on your little monkey’s face when he sees wild animals for the first time!

Baby photography demands different camera tactics. Your camera should have a high shutter speed to avoid blurry shots. Digital cameras are preferable, but if you’re using a film camera, then get one that loads quickly and easily. Composition is important. Shoot at the eye level of you child.

This makes the image appear more enticing and expressive. Although close ups are popular, full body photos can do well so long as there aren’t distracting backgrounds and props. You can also overpower your baby’s personality with frilly clothing and accessories, so keep it natural.

It’s crucial that you remember that a photo contest for babies is not a beauty contest. Judges are not looking for physical perfection. Let’s face it, all babies are beautiful! Judges usually focus on originality and the quality of the photo. They also evaluate the child’s expression, personality and the overall impression of the photo.

A photo that elicits an immediate reaction is more likely to get a judge’s attention, so look for wonderful, spontaneous moments in pregnancy photos. For instance, perhaps your baby bursts out laughing while playing with a pet or is awestruck by a fabulous new toy. The more unique your birth photo announcements is, the better your chance of winning, such as a Gerber baby contest.

baby photo album
It’s important to remember to keep your baby the focus of the photo. You may be tempted to surround them with stuffed animals or dress them in frilly clothes, but judges of the baby photo contests may find that distracting. Most contests come with a set of guidelines. Follow them closely and be creative so that you can show off your beautiful little one.

Is Your New Digital Camera Doing What It Should?

May 31, 2009

by Chris Campbell

These are four marvelous mid-level cameras that consumers should consider buying if they’re semi-pro or are training to become pro.

Plan the event. Think about what you want to immortalize, consider every shot you will take and think of the who’s, where’s and how’s. Design the whole arrangement beforehand, put it on paper if you have to. Don’t improvise and your results will be better.

No matter how perfect the posing setup is, something will go wrong. Don’t count on people not blinking simply because you told them not to. Take 5-6 photos of each pose, so that you have where to choose from. Use additional memory cards if you don’t have enough storage space, or download the pictures to a computer.

No, you can’t spot problems on the LCD screen, simply because it’s too small to show every detail.

SLR-cameras – are bigger than the rest of the models and feature the best tools, amazing image quality and highest low-light capability.

If you don’t have the time to search the market then you should take into consideration the following devices: the Olympus 720SW – $280, a compact and waterproof camera or the Fuji F30 – $265 the perfect indoor camera.

The K200D feels like a bump-up from the K10D; it has a lot of the controls and the sensor found in the late camera. The K200D is also easy to use, with the function button granting fast access to most of the settings commonly used.

Most people don’t know that the number of pixels doesn’t influence the image quality. There are some 3-megapixel cameras that will take great images for the 8 x 10″ format. That’s why any professional will tell you that not the number of pixels but their quality will make the real difference.

Also, when choosing a camera you should pay attention if the pictures are in focus, if the edges of the image are sharp and if the high contrast id well captured.

The camera comes bundled with an image-editing software which you can use for correcting lens distortion. Another nice feature is that in live view, you can see the control panel over the picture, making it easy to make necessary custom changes.

No Need To Be Shy About Buying A Digital Camera

May 30, 2009

by Chris Campbell

So, you’ve decided to make the brave leap into the realm of digital SLR photography. You’re probably one of the thousands of digital photography enthusiasts who have been using simple point-and-shoot cameras for years.

First of all, lets look at your own skill level as a photographer. If your like many perspective Rebel XTi purchasers, all the cameras you’ve owned in the past, have been basic point and shoot cameras. You’ve probably never messed with the exposure settings, ISO settings or even gave a second thought to something like burst mode, or f-stop. While the XTi does give you the ability to continue shooting pictures that way, it would be a mistake to do so.

Photos taken with the XTi using the default factory auto settings tend to be quite underexposed. Not something you would expect from a $600 camera. Bottom line is, don’t assume the Rebel will take better pictures just because it’s a better camera . . . your going to have to upgrade your skills as a photographer to get better pictures.

Taking pictures in burst mode on your Rebel (or any camera) is one way to hedge your odds of getting at least one good picture. Professional photographers do it all the time. Your going to be somewhat limited when doing that with the Rebel. It tends to freeze after taking twenty or so pictures. If the flash is not in use, then this shouldn’t be an issue. But, if it is, the Rebel does it to protect the flash. Really no way around it, it works that way by design.

Don’t count on using the LCD screen for taking your pictures. It’s a non-option with the Rebel XTi. You’ll have to stick with the optical viewfinder.

The Nikon D90 is a camera with 12.3 megapixels and an impressive 3 inch LCD screen with 920,000 pixels.. The Live View also has movie mode, but you don’t have the option to autofocus once you start shooting the movie.

It started with the XT, then the XTi, followed by the Xsi, the XS, and now the T1i. these cameras can generally be had for between 600 and $1100.

What’s important, is to give careful consideration to how plan to use your camera. That’s the main thing, and should pretty much guarantee you get the perfect camera for you.

Getting Tired Of Digital Camera Shopping Yet?

May 29, 2009

by Chris Campbell

I acknowledge that I am a fan of Canon cameras and the EOS Digital Rebel line has always been a personal favorite. The Rebel Xsi performs puts forth a most professional performance at a reasonable price, and is sure to please both the budding amateur and professional photographer alike.

Many bought the EOS XTi (400D) for so many years, that Canon was prompted to introducing the next evolution in this lineup: EOS XSi (450D). In this new model, Canon no longer uses “Digital” in the naming of the camera, calling it simply the EOS Rebel XSi or the EOS 450D.

The best stay at the top of the digital camera market because while they lack many features of other digital cameras they are able to provide point and shoot style photography. By providing this convenience most people are more likely to want to purchase one, so that they are easily able to transport and have it available when a photo opportunity should arise.

The Digital Rebel XTi and the Digital Rebel XT SLR cameras are comparable in price, but for the features and megapixels, they are very different. The XTi provides 10.1 megapixels while the XT has 8 megapixels. The XT does have a DIGIC II image processor but so does the XTi. The frame burst is different on each with the XT 14 and the XTi having 27. The best camera for the Canon Rebel is the Canon Rebel XTi.

Between all the Canon SLR cameras listed here, the best camera is the Canon EOS-1Ds Mark III.

Of course, Canon is just one player in the field of digital SLR cameras. Nikon has some pretty nice models to look at, as do Pentax and Olympus.

These are only two of the best compact digital cameras that are available on the market today. All you need to do is determine what features that you want your camera to perform and you are sure to find a compact digital camera that will meet your needs.

Wedding Photographer: How to Select the Best One

One important decision you make while planning your wedding is selecting the best wedding photographer. These photos will serve as sweet memories of your wedding day, forever. You can’t just trust anyone with your special moments. Here, we give you some insights into selecting the ideal photographer for your requirements.

When you choose a wedding photographer, ensure that he is an expert photographer. There are two ways to appraise their skills. You can seek references from their previous customers. With this it is possible to speak personally with other couples who used the photographer earlier. The next step is meeting the photographer before offering him the assignment so that you are sure he is the right choice. If you find that the photographer does not appeal to you, go on to the next one on your list.

The next factor that needs to be considered is whether the photographer you intend to hire is a member of any professional trade association. A photographer having a membership with the Australian Institute of Professional Photography is highly skilled and proficient in photography. Time To Upgrade To The Best Digital Camera?

May 28, 2009

by Chris Campbell

People are asking me on a regular basis if they should buy a Canon or a Nikon digital camera. The answer of which is the best digital camera depends on what you want to do with it.

For hobbyists like me, maybe the more important thing is to find the best camera deal without compromising much of the quality. This is why I went for the 8-megapixel Evolt E500 digital SLR camera with 14-45mm f/3.5-5.6 and 40-150mm f/3.5-4.5 Zuiko lenses.

Nikon and Canon fans are fierce rivals when they talk about digital SLR cameras. It’s pretty much like rivalries between DC Comics and Marvel, or Windows and Apple users, Blackberry and Palm. Because they’re such fanatics about it, their fights sometimes appear in newspapers, and people end up believing one article or another, even though it’s not the entire truth. In fact, these cameras are not that different and there is also no clear winner when it comes to photography.

Price is never the only attribute to consider. Some knowledge of the product is essential. In the case of digital cameras, there is a ton characteristics you could evaluate. Fortunately, looking at all characteristics is not necessary.

We also loved how the rear LCD controls can access pretty much everything from exposure to flash speed to ISO, making it more user-friendly especially for newbie SLR users like me.

Still, there are always a few differences between different models of cameras. In some cases the differences are big, in other cases small. One example would be the use of CCD sensors in Nikon cameras, while Canon models have CMOS.

While Canon uses a motor for each lens, Nikon has a single motor with autofocus in the camera. Something that Nikon doesn’t have and Canon does is a system that uses vibration to clean the dust from sensors.

My own preferences, based on my own experience is for Nikon, but I have used a D200 camera for a long time so that’s my experience. At the same time, my father in law owns a Canon 20D digital camera and he also thinks its the best camera.

They’ve got more wiggle room with their pricing then they’ll ever admit. Follow these steps, and in no time at all you’ll be snapping future Pulitzer prize winning photos, at a better price than most.

Another Unbelieveably Best Digital Camera?

May 27, 2009

by Chris Campbell

How many times have you looked back on a purchase and believed you got the absolute best price you could? A better price than the average Joe could have managed. Probably only a handful of times I bet.

I must admit this has happened to me in the past. Over the last few years, I bought six cameras, and I have friends who have changed even more. If you want to stop maxing out your credit cards on cameras that will get obsolete in no time, you must have asked yourself what you should do about it: stay with an old model or look for a top-notch camera that will always be in line with the latest technology?

First and foremost, when shopping around for a digital camera, make sure you do your homework. Doing your homework, means getting a solid foundation on the technologies currently available, and understanding what the going dollar rate is for that technology.

Digital cameras are much like computers and the myriad host of electronic gadgets. Every day there is a mix of price changes as newer technology replaces old. The bigger the tech improvement, the bigger the price change. For this reason alone.

So how should you cope with this issue? Well, unless you are very satisfied with your current camera, go ahead and buy the best one you can find, the one with the best price versus functionalities rate.

Combining these, you have a better chance of buying a better camera than the one you first set your eyes on, because we all know that most of us know that a camera is suppose to take pretty pictures and in our heads, all are the same, only the brands are different.

As long as your willing to buy the older model, as the newest model hits the shelves, your bound to save money. Lasts years favorite will often see major price drops as their new big brother comes screaming into the world.

And one last thing to keep in mind, there is always something better coming along, so you better buy a camera that you will know is going to satisfy your needs for more than a year.

Getting the perfect camera, is never an easy thing, especially with the way digital technology is constantly changing. Fortunately, there are plenty of helpful websites online, that can narrow down your search and help you find the camera with all the features important to you.

Still Looking For Your Digital Camera?

May 26, 2009

by Chris Campbell

If your wondering which Canon digital camera is right for you, then you’ve obviously made a decision already. You’ve decided to limit your search to Canon.

The IDs shoots five frames per second while the ID shoots 12 frames per second. The comparison between the camera s for RAW images and full resolution pictures is 12 RAW and 56 full resolutions for the IDs and 30 RAW and 110 full resolutions for the ID. Both cameras have a three-inch LCD screen. The best camera between the two is the EOS-ID Mark III.

The Canon EOS 5D Digital, EOS 40D Digital and the EOS 30D Digital cameras have different features and prices. The EOS 5D shoots 60 full resolutions and 17 RAW, the 40D shoots 75 full resolutions and 17 RAW and the 30D shoots 30 full resolution pictures and 11 RAW.

In the ultra compact category, they have cameras like the PowerShot SD1000 Digital Elph, and the PowerShot SD750 Digital Elph. These are both popular and reliable sellers for the YouTube, FaceBook and MySpace fan groups.

The Elphs are extremely easy to use, tiny, and portable. Their image quality may not be the best, but for loading to your favorite websites and emailing to your friends, the pics are more than adequate.

The XT does have a DIGIC II image processor but so does the XTi. The frame burst is different on each with the XT 14 and the XTi having 27. The best camera for the Canon Rebel is the Canon Rebel XTi.

Personally, I don’t know why all cameras aren’t just built this way. A few extra millimeters of plastic / metal, and some decent seals can’t cost that much more money. It’s really worth it though as small portable cameras tend to take lots of abuse.

If any digital camera manufacturer could be accused of trying to make everyone happy all the time, it’s Canon. Not that they necessarily succeed all the time, but they do deserve plenty of kudos for trying.

Name brand loyalty is important if you have a lot of accessories and lenses that only work with a specific brand. It’s also something to consider, as your collection of camera stuff grows over the years.

Bringing Life To Images With Digital Photography

May 25, 2009

While many people make a living from travel photography, not everyone makes it in the field of art photography. This type of photography requires a great amount of creativity in producing images that can reach into the arts spectrum. For those who make this type of photography their living, they must practice patience and spend a lot of time planning just how their photographs will be shot.

Fine art photography has gone through many changes throughout the years, yet photographers have learned that the steps to a beautiful photograph have for the most part stayed the same. While to those who are viewing the photographs, the pictures may seem highly elaborate and unique, fine art photographers know to keep it simple.

professional photography
Having too much going on in the scene can distort the picture and take away from the subject. They must know exactly whom or what they are shooting as their main character, especially in hobby photography and then make everything else magically disappear into the background when they are taking the photographic image.

Lighting plays a huge part in professional photography. Even if you have a perfect scene or subject to take a photograph of, if the lighting is not right, then the image will not turn out the way that the photographer wants. While, of course artificial lighting can be used, natural lighting is always the best, especially in arts photography.

They need to produce photographic imagery that will come to life in the eyes of the viewer.

wedding photography
Those who work with art photography need to be extremely creative and must be able to do a lot of abstract thinking. The vivid photographic images that they produce can astound and captivate millions of individuals.

The people who work within this industry know how to take what might be an everyday photo to some and turn it into an extraordinary work of art. While it “takes all kinds to make a world,” it takes a certain type of individual to be able to produce this kind of art.

Simple Steps To Buying The Perfect Digital Camera

May 24, 2009

by Chris Campbell

Before you think about buying a camera, you should know how to buy a digital camera. You should look at many different cameras in your price range and use a checklist to record the specifications. After you have all the information for different cameras, you can then compare the specifications to narrow down your options.

The first of course would be to just ignore the latest and greatest products and sales. That certainly is simple. And for those who are willing to settle for the best digital camera from last week, month or year, that’s fine. At the pace technology advances, your chances of getting a good camera are pretty good (no matter how old it is). The basics of what makes a good camera good, haven’t really changed that much over the years. Good lenses, and good image quality with minimal noise and distortion in your pictures are the most important attributes.

For under $200 there are some pretty nice digital cameras that would suit the purposes of the average photographer. Someone in this category is looking to have a good camera to take on vacation, to the cousins wedding, and to catch junior blowing out the birthday candles. The Canon PowerShot A570IS is a good choice here.

I suspect there is a smidgen of truth to that. I believe they do hold off on some advancements, when they see no profit in the near future. On the other hand, there are plenty of camera manufacturers competing everyday. No one of them wants to see the other get too much further ahead.

Anything in the $200 to $500 price range will get you much the same camera as the previously mentioned cameras, with a few improved features. Typically higher resolution LCD screens, better lenses, higher zoom factors, more manual control, and overall better image quality. Don’t worry about megapixels, as the image quality of any camera over 5MP will be all but indistinguishable to the average photographer.

In the $500 to $1000 your looking at a cornucopia of entry digital level digital SLR cameras. Models like the Canon XTi Digital Rebel, and the Nikon D40 are good examples.

Once you have all the information you need, you should be able to buy the best camera for your needs. Take some time before buying any digital camera and check reviews to see what other users have to say about the camera.

If your looking in the over $1000 price category, then to be quite honest you don’t need my help. The best digital camera prices for these cameras is really less of an issue. Anyone looking to spend this much money for a camera should let their own personal preferences be their guide. Camera functionality and image quality are far more important at this point.
